  24. <h3>Description</h3>
  25. <p>This tool fills an area surrounded by existing entities with a hatch pattern
  26. or a solid color.</p>
  27. <h3>Usage</h3>
  28. <ol>
  29. <li>Prepare the entities that surround the hatching area so they form a
  30. closed contour. The contour must be closed in a way that one entity is
  31. connected to the next one as shown at the right in this example:

  35. <li>Select the contour(s) you want to fill. Note that islands inside contours
  36. will get hatched if they are not selected:

  40. <li>Launch the hatch tool.</li>
  41. <li>A dialog for the hatch options is displayed. Choose a hatch
  42. pattern, scale factor and a rotation angle for the hatch pattern. If you want
  43. to fill the object with a solid color instead of a pattern, check the
  44. check box "Solid Fill".</li>
  45. <li>Click 'OK' to proceed with the hatching. Depending on the complexity of
  46. the contour and the scale factor of the chosen pattern, it might take a while
  47. to create the hatch.</li>
