  37. IEEE 802.1D.
  38. Copyright (C) The Internet Society (2005). This version of
  39. this MIB module is part of RFC 4188; see the RFC itself for
  40. full legal notices."
  41. REVISION "200509190000Z"
  42. DESCRIPTION
  43. "Third revision, published as part of RFC 4188.
  44. The MIB module has been converted to SMIv2 format.
  45. Conformance statements have been added and some
  46. description and reference clauses have been updated.
  47. The object dot1dStpPortPathCost32 was added to
  48. support IEEE 802.1t and the permissible values of
  49. dot1dStpPriority and dot1dStpPortPriority have been
  50. clarified for bridges supporting IEEE 802.1t or
  51. IEEE 802.1w.
  52. The interpretation of dot1dStpTimeSinceTopologyChange
  53. has been clarified for bridges supporting the Rapid
  54. Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)."

  67. DESCRIPTION
  68. "The Bridge-Identifier, as used in the Spanning Tree
  69. Protocol, to uniquely identify a bridge. Its first two
  70. octets (in network byte order) contain a priority value,
  71. and its last 6 octets contain the MAC address used to
  72. refer to a bridge in a unique fashion (typically, the
  73. numerically smallest MAC address of all ports on the
  74. bridge)."
  75. SYNTAX OCTET STRING (SIZE (8))
  76. Timeout ::= TEXTUAL-CONVENTION
  77. DISPLAY-HINT "d"
  78. STATUS current
  79. DESCRIPTION
  80. "A Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) timer in units of 1/100
  81. seconds. Several objects in this MIB module represent
  82. values of timers used by the Spanning Tree Protocol.
  83. In this MIB, these timers have values in units of
  84. hundredths of a second (i.e., 1/100 secs).
  85. These timers, when stored in a Spanning Tree Protocol's
  86. BPDU, are in units of 1/256 seconds. Note, however, that
  87. 802.1D-1998 specifies a settable granularity of no more
  88. than one second for these timers. To avoid ambiguity,
  89. a conversion algorithm is defined below for converting
  90. between the different units, which ensures a timer's
  91. value is not distorted by multiple conversions.
  92. To convert a Timeout value into a value in units of
  93. 1/256 seconds, the following algorithm should be used:
  94. b = floor( (n * 256) / 100)
  95. where:
  96. floor = quotient [ignore remainder]
  97. n is the value in 1/100 second units
  98. b is the value in 1/256 second units
  99. To convert the value from 1/256 second units back to
  100. 1/100 seconds, the following algorithm should be used:
  101. n = ceiling( (b * 100) / 256)
  102. where:
  103. ceiling = quotient [if remainder is 0], or
  104. quotient + 1 [if remainder is nonzero]
  105. n is the value in 1/100 second units
  106. b is the value in 1/256 second units
  107. Note: it is important that the arithmetic operations are
  108. done in the order specified (i.e., multiply first,
  109. divide second)."
